Urban Bum

The project team worked together to create an adaptable skateboard for the mobile college student. Urban Bum is an expandable skateboard that can turn into a long board. When contracted the cruiser is easier to maneuver around crowds. When expanded the long board it is more comfortable to ride long distances; this is useful for students who live off campus and board to school. The skateboard has two features that make it easier for students to ride. The first feature is a backpack holder that lowers the center of gravity and helps the rider balance more easily than if they were wearing the backpack. The second feature is a foot swivel that helps inexperienced users turn onto the board after push off.
